SUMMER IN THE CITY 2014

Hey guys!

Before I properly begin this blog post I'd like to say thank you for 264 page views from all over the world?! wtf, why???? I appreciate it but am very confused all the same!

This particular post is probably gonna be an essay, so please feel free to leave now. Or don't, whatever floats your goat.

SOOOOOO on Saturday 9th August at 7:53, Charlotte and I got on the train to go to SitC! We were so unbelievably hyped but kinda worried because we didn't know what to expect!(We put this picture on Facebook)

We got to Hatfield and then changed to get the train to Alexandra Palace, and by 9:00ish we were in the queue! During the queuing there was obviously a lot of cameras but it was very hot and we started to get impatient because they didn't let us in until 11:45...but when we finally entered they gave us some cool wristbands and freebies, and we headed straight for the Dan and Phil meet and greet line.

And what a fail THAT was! They had already given out all of the m&g tickets, so Charlotte and I were left sad. KickThePJ's line was also full, and we didn't think the day was going to go very well...until we bumped into Dodie Clark(doddleoddle)! She was so lovely, signed our books and took pictures with us!

Since we were overwhelmed by the fact we met Dodie, we had to go and calm down for a bit. But once we had regained ourselves, we went to watch her perform on the main stage which was awesome! Then we were in the musicy mood so went to watch the Music Panel in the panorama room!

Not long after that we were wandering around the merch stores and met Bethan Leadley(musicalbethan)! She was as lovely as Dodie and after meeting her I bought a musicalbethan wristband:3.
Then we had to regain ourselves again...it happened a lot...but we went to see the amazing Tom Law on the main stage, which was amazing! We tried to meet him after that performance, but decided to head to the Open Mic room to watch him perform for a second time! When he finished, he told everyone that he wasn't leaving until he met everyone so, yes, we met Tom Law and he gave awesome hugs and signed our EP's:)

So that was too awesome for us to handle! And we were only half way through the day! I then bumped into Ellie James(ninkcompoop) and she was really nice and gave me a hug and a picture-
BUT THE EXCITEMENT IS NOT OVER YET FOR THERE IS MORE. WE MET TOMSKA. YES. ACTUAL THOMAS RIDGEWELL FROM ACTUAL TOMSKA AND HE GAVE REALLY AWESOME HUGS AND PICTURES AND SUCH.
We then saw BriBry perform and he was flawless, and we went to his merch stand to buy an EP and meet him, and he signed it too!
We saw a few more of the main stage performances and that was it for SitC day one! I'll write another post for day two:3 thankyou to everyone :D

"Fake Fans"

Oh wow...so it really has been a long time, hasn't it! I must admit I have been extremely busy with school and issues with friends and what not, but no fear, grace is here!

This is actually going to be a rant which I may get a bit too passionate about but if you bear with me you might be able to make some sense out of what I'm saying!:) also I'm typing this on my phone so it may be short and lack capital letters!

So by the title you must have realised that this post is about fake fans...I have seen A LOT on twitter and tumblr and Facebook where people say "you're just a fake fan" or "you don't even like them" and just...no. Stop there, read what you just said and think it over. Since when have you had the right to point out who is a fan or not? A fan of, let's say a band, can know one song or all of the songs. A fan may know none of the members, or all of the members and when their birthdays are and what colour socks they're wearing that day. In band/singer terms, a fan is somebody who appreciates the music that is being written. Even if it is just one song. I feel like this "fake fan" label is found most in the music industry, and it annoys me to say the least. Why does it make you feel any better calling someone a fake fan?

Another thing around the fake fan topic is people who think you have to discover a band in a certain way to actually like them. This may not make sense, but let me use 5 Seconds Of Summer as an example. I know for a fact that they like Nirvana, and quite a lot of 5SOS's fandom searched them up, and liked them. I then saw people on twitter and tumblr raging at them saying "they only like them because Ashton does" or "they're just looking for attention" oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise discovering a band through another band was illegal? And saying they're looking for attention? Please, shut up.

Basically, the point I am trying to make is that no one should be called out as a fake fan for any reason. Nobody has the right to call someone a fake fan, or tell them they don't actually like a band. Does it really affect you who someone likes? No. And being a fake fan because you discovered a band through another band? Pleaaaseeee. How do you think half of the worlds bands expanded their fanbases?

(PS. I know this doesn't just happen in the music part of things, but that is definitely the best example)

So thanks if you read this, and id like to hear your views in the comments or on twitter (@graciousgannon)

Laziness.

Right...Hey!

I've been gone quite a long time, mostly because I've been busy. Yeah, busy...but I'm back with another blog post that really isn't going to be interesting but you can read it if you wish! And before I start, HEY SAM! :D

So half term has finished and we're back at hel-, I mean school. I've basically had about 18373 different seating plans this week which is okay but meh. I've really been struggling to stay awake though, and I'm even falling asleep in some lessons which isn't a good thing. It also doesn't make me feel very good or very happy and I don't know why I am so tired?

Like most people, I really struggle to wake up in the morning. My friends know too well that I can stay in bed until 3pm after going to sleep at 9. It just my main talent. But during the day I'm so tired it can be worrying.

Also, my laziness level is off the scale. I could get in from school, vow to just lay down for five minutes and three hours later, I'm staring at the ceiling because I will NOT move. I do Taekwondo twice a week and that's about the limit of my energy. It's not just physical laziness, I'm really lazy when it comes to texting/messaging people back. I could read a message, and forget to reply. And I feel awful afterwards but I just seem to find typing a lot of effort.

Finally, going out with friends is a real chore. I wouldn't recommend becoming friends with me because I most likely will not leave the house to see you. I didnt see any of my friends this half term, and I will probably spend 1/6 of the summer holiday being sociable. It's just how I am.

So, this is why you shouldn't talk to me! I won't reply, I won't meet up with you and I'll sleep for the majority of our friendship.

May The Force Be With You,
Grace :)

A very rambly post about music.

HEY!

Angry caps lock, whoops. This blog is gonna be extremely difficult as I'm writing from my tablet, so apologies for spelling mistakes and what not!

So, music. We hear it everyday. Some people like it, some people aren't really interested, and others have an emotional attachment to it. There are so many different genres, ranging from pop to heavy metal to opera. And everybody likes different things. Emphasis on different. It does get a bit ridiculous when I see people getting angry because somebody likes a certain band or artist. If you don't like something that somebody likes, sure go ahead and express your opinion, but LET IT GO. Nobody is your clone and has the same interests and opinions as you, and I'm sure you'd be slightly annoyed if they did. Now that's cleared up :)

If somebody said "Grace, what's your favourite genre of music?" I can say now that I wouldn't be able to answer truthfully. It all depends on my mood really, I have music ranging from indie-pop/pop to rock to, well, enter shikari, whatever genre they are. I was just listening to Lower Than Atlantis, and now I'm listening to The 1975. Before that I was listening to New Order. I love Lewis Watson and Nina Nesbitt too. My favourite band is You Me At Six. I've seen Foals live. It seriously is broad. I never EVER go by the artist or genre of the music. If a One Direction song appealed to me, I would buy it, and I would listen to it, and I wouldn't care. I do have music preferences, but I'm not a strong believer in only liking one type of music.

My music taste was highly influenced, and stemmed, from my dad when I was really young. My favourite bands were Blink-182 and Good Charlotte, and I hated McFly. My recent music taste, however, has been influenced by my brother. He introduced me to some of my favourite bands, but I have explored and discovered new bands and genres.

Here are some bands/artists I would recommend listening to! Let me know in the comments or on twitter @graciousgannon what you think. Be honest by the way, it is the best policy;)

1. You Me At Six
2. The Crookes
3. Lewis Watson
4. Blink-182
5. Lower Than Atlantis
6. The Coasts
7. Foals
8. The 1975
9. Young Kato
10. Canterbury

Also, please leave suggestions of artists or songs, either in the comments or tweet me @graciousgannon (again) I'd be more than happy to be introduced to some different music!:D

Happy Listening & May The Force Be With You,
